Delegates in this committee will talk about the current state of affairs regarding the Uyghurs in East Turkestan. The massive violation of human rights in East Turkistan, which has been oppressed since the Chinese state took over, remains of utmost significance. Over the past years, assimilation policies have intensified to the point of genocide through internment camps, “counterterrorism” campaigns, and state violence, leaving the people of East Turkistan with more wounds than they have ever had. East Turkistan still has internment camps, arbitrary arrests, torture, forced labor, and mandatory birth control laws, according to current sources, despite the Chinese government’s efforts to restrict media coverage and stifle international public opinion about the ongoing violations.
Furthermore, the Chinese Communist Party has been using forced labor on Uyghurs in East Turkestan for many years. Uyghurs have been sent to China to work in factories by the CCP, and they have also been used as forced labor to harvest cotton in East Turkistan. These Uyghurs have been coerced into working in camps under the pretense of “vocational skills” and “re-education.”
Members of the OIC state committee will talk about the issues above. Eagerly awaiting your discussions, long live solidarity.
